The Speaker set out a plan to strengthen parliamentary oversight committees and proposed a partnership with the Leadership Code Tribunal.
Meeting the top management of the Leadership Code Tribunal, led by its Chairperson, Dr Roselyn Karugonjo-Segawa, the Speaker announced a plan to strengthen the performance and independence of parliamentary oversight committees by prioritising internal funding of all committee operations.
He proposed a partnership under which the Tribunal would host orientation sessions and briefings for Members on the legal requirements for declaring income, assets and liabilities. Dr Karugonjo-Segawa commended Parliament's open-door policy and said the Tribunal would continue to discharge its mandate with integrity and impartiality.
